Portishead has been the site of settlement since pre-history - Cadbury Camp is a fine example of an Iron Age Fort. Prominent landmarks include the four-stage tower of the Norman Church of St Peter, which was built in 1320 and rebuilt in subsequent centuries in the Perpendicular Gothic style.
